Same Blog, New Name!

Well to go with my new name I figured it was also smart to change my blog as well. As of right now everything is the same, outside of the name; although Jenny promises to help me make it less boring. I will get to blogging about our wonderful trip to Vegas soon, I promise my little bloggletts!

A picture of you holding a picture of me In the pocket of my blue jeans

I decided to finally announce an exciting little detail of my life here on this old blog.
I have officially changed my name. That is right, peace out Robillard, hello EVANS.
There are a lot of reasons I did this, but all of you that need to know, already know these reasons. One day I am sure I will blog about it, but today, I think I will focus on the positives of the name change.
I have also dropped my middle name "Lee" and changed it to "Rose" as most of you are aware based on my Facebook and twitter names...(to be honest I never really liked the name anyway).
Evans of course is my step father's last name, a name I should have taken years ago, he is after all the man that raised for most of my life and the only man that gave a damn, yes there were tough times when I was a teenager, but Jenny said it best, when she said "at least he was around to piss you off." Some people are wondering where "Rose" comes from, it comes from the song '"Rose of my heart" which Johnny Cash covered for June Carter, this is a song that means a lot to me and Colin, and I felt like it was better to go with a name that has a strong meaning, rather than some random name I happen to like this week. I know it seems a little odd to be changing my name at 25 when I will most likley be married in a few years, but my mom helped me make the decision suggesting that it is better to live with my maiden name as "Evans" rather than be reminded of everything associated with "Robillard." I am really grateful that all of my friends and family have been so supportive with the name change, it really tells me that I am making the right decision, and I feel really good about it. I am excited to start off on another brighter foot with a much better name.

Here are the lyrics (once again) to "Rose of My Heart"

We're the best partners this world's ever seen
Together we're as close as can be
But sometimes it's hard to find time in between
To tell you what you mean are to me

You are the rose of my heart
You are the love of my life
A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.

When sorrow holds you in it's arms of clay
It's raindrops that fall from your eyes
Your smile is the sun come to earth for a day
You brighten my blackest of skies

You are the rose of my heart
You are the love of my life
A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're cold let my love make you warm
Rose of my heart

So hard times are easy times, what do I care
There's nothing I'd change if I could
The tears and the laughter are things that we share
Your hand in mine makes it good

You are the rose of my heart
You are the love of my life
A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.

You are the rose of my heart
You are the love of my life
A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.

"...no I just watch a lot of CSI...New York CSI, Miami CSI and Bones too..."

So, it has been awhile since I blogged about a movie, but "The Town" was defiantly worth setting aside some blog time for. I don't want to go into too much detail with it, because I don't want to give a milisecond away, I want you to read this, and run out and watch it. Anyway, I will say that, I had pretty high hopes for this flick; while Ben Affleck movies can be hit or miss, generally ones he has been a part of creating are always incredible, and "The Town" was no exception. Not to mention, this is by far Ben Affleck's very best performance of all time. Yes, Ben the time has come now, I forgive you for that that Jennifer Lopez movie, that must remained unnamed.
I was pleasantly surprised by Blake Lively's performance although, I feel like part of it may have been cut out, it seemed to me, like maybe part of her character was missing.
Outside of creating a heart stopping, intelligent, and interesting action movie (a hard thing to do usually) "The Town" made me want to go to Boston, like NOW. I have been obsessing about Boston since I was little when my mom told me I started speaking in a Boston accent as a baby, meeting Colin another Boston lover, has only intensified that, but after seeing this movie, all I wanted to do was run home and book a trip ...I am planning one in my head now...that and watch anything that put Ben Affleck and Boston together...since re-watching "The Town" wasn't an option, I settled for "Good Will Hunting".
If you haven't heard me say it enough - go now and watch it!

New Hair...again.

Breaking news, I got my hair cut, and this is what it looks like!
I was really scared when Kuba was cutting it, but once it was all finished, I was in love with it. Everyday I find more reasons to love it. Who would have thought last winter when I was terrified to cut it to my shoulders that I would cut it this short...I am pretty sure my hair hasn't been this short since I was a toddler.

Hope you like it my blogger darlings.

Happy 1.5 iversary

In honor of our 1.5 -iversary I was going to post a bunch of pictures of us together, and ramble on about how happy the last 1.5 year of my life has been, and how much I love Colin...but lets face it, I write that basically in every post. SO, I thought for a change, I would post a few videos on a few of our other favorite couples...(that remind us of us ha ha) so, that you out there in blogger world, won't lose your lunch reading about how insanely happy we are together.

Afternoon smile

This made me smile today, because it reminds me of my favorite joke; which goes a little something like this:
There are two muffins in an oven, and the one muffin says "wow it is ever hot in here" and the other muffin says "AHHHHHHH a talking muffin". Ha ha ha.

I love his joke so much. I told it to Colin the other day to distract him while he was getting his tattoo - I know he thought it was a stupid joke, but it made him smile, and for one millisecond forget that he was paying someone to torture and permanently scar the skin on his rib cage.

"You are the only exception & I am on my way to believing it"

There has not been a ton going on lately, mostly due to the fact that both of us have been pretty sick. However, before we fell down the rabbit hole of sickness, we managed to get in a batting practice with Nathan and his team! We were supposed to play in a weekend tournament last weekend, but we were both far too sick to make it out. We were pretty disappointed we didn't get to hang out more with Nathan and Rachel, but at least we had one fine afternoon to show them our skills....and by "our skills" I am of course referring to Colin, since I actually do not have any skills what-so-ever, in fact, while playing in the outfield, I would actually move away from the ball if it came near me.
This is why I am better off participating in games like dodge-ball or in single activities, like yoga or figure skating.

In other news, tomorrow I get my hair cut!
I know big deal right? Good thing I posted it in blog format, there are just far too many people out there that would have suffered not knowing this about me.

Music is my imaginary friend

I am sitting at my desk listening to random selections on Myspace. A few things I haven't listened to in awhile, even though we have all the records at home, anyway, it dawns on me, that I am listening to all music that reminds me of the fall and winter last year. Dave Hause, Chuck Ragan, Northcoat etc. So I start thinking about all the things it reminds me of - hanging with Andrew and Katie at Nite Owl, my purple scarf, cleaning the apartment from top to bottom every day I wasn't working like THAT was my job, the smell of fall, the smell of snow as we raced to Call the Office or Nite Owl in the middle of the week, beer. It is funny how music, like scents, can immediately transport you back to the moments you first heard it.
I realize everyone is well aware of this phenomena, which is why music is such a huge part of our everyday life, it aids in healing, adds to celebration, motivates and calms; I am not breaking any ground writing this post but I was just so overwhelmed by these happy memories, I had to talk about them for a moment.

Alright back to work now my blogger beauties.

Campers: Nature's way of feeding mosquitoes.

Pictures as promised. These are pictures Mary took, I am still waiting for the ones Jen took, but I think these should be enough for now!

And we can walk down to the ocean, And sit with the rising sun.

This weekend was our second trip camping with the Turnbull gang. To be honest I was a little more hesitant this time, because the weather has been so finicky and bizarre I was expecting the worst. Fortunately, I was wrong, and the weather co-operated with us the whole time. We went to celebrate Harrison's 3rd birthday, Jen and Joanne's 35th and I guess to kiss summer goodbye!
Friday night was pretty interesting, I expected it to be low key, since we got in so late, and set up in the dark.... Turns out I was wrong again! I wont get into incriminating details (ha) about why we almost got evicted off the campsite at 3am and why Kevin gave us all a "I'll turn this car around" kind of talk afterward, what I will say is that what did happen bonded us all together even more and I felt very much a welcome part of the family, and it was pretty fun.
Another weekend in our dining tent, filled with family fun and lots to drink, all together a pretty swell time. I'll post pictures later when I haven't had half a glass of sour red wine and feel like my eyelids are made of concrete.

Good night lovely blogger darlings.

"I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter"

New Taylor Swift song rocking my soul right now. That line couldn't describe things more perfectly.

I have lots to update! I will start with last Monday!
My wonderful super stellar boyfriend surprised me Monday evening, by planning a celebration for me, in anticipation of me getting my braces off on Tuesday.
I came home to a bottle of red wine, special chocolate truffles, Jack Johnson on the record player and dinner at Aroma! Can you believe this guy? I still can't believe how lucky I am!
Dinner was incredible, the whole date night was outstanding.
A wonderful, amazing Monday evening.

Tuesday was the big day! I finally got my braces removed forever! It feels pretty weird even now, and I still haven't gotten used to seeing myself in the mirror, but regardless of that, it is still pretty wicked to be braces free! I no longer look like a 14 year old! Yippie!

More updates to follow with pictures!

Things that made me smile today.

Tell me this isn't exactly how you imagine Colin and I would have looked together at this age! What do you mean you don't spend your free time imagining things like that? ha ha.
Every time I read this, I laugh - a lot.
I think we all know who this is directed at.

You're so money, you don't even know how money you are

In case you missed it on all my other social networking devices, or couldn't hear me screaming "VEGAS BABY VEGAS" all night, then let me update you....

After several attempts and date changes we are finally doing it! We are finally hitting the City of Sin, and what better reason to go, than to celebrate my 25th birthday!?!

I didn't think anything could beat last years celebrations, with Louis CK, David Cross, Nuit Blanche (sort of) and two nights in Toronto...but I am going to make a bet that this year will take the cake!
Makes officially becoming 25 a little easier to swallow.

I wont be too obnoxious here, by bubbling over with Vegas babbles...I'll save that for when we return ha ha.

What’s meant to be will always be though I control my destiny

I am struggling to find a better way to start this post rather than "this weekend was awesome", but it WAS, so I am going with it, deal with it.

We shucked the pups up to the "Lake House" on Friday night where I met up with my mom and left Colin behind for boys weekend!

Mom and I hung out drinking wine and chatting, gossiping and chasing after puppies that were pretty excited about all the space they were able to run around in.
The house was pretty empty as they are moving next week, so it was a little weird being there, and still hasn't sunk in that, it was my last trip to 100 Dill street. The next 1-2 years will be really weird while they re-build the lake house, but once it is complete it is going to be pretty amazing, the property alone leaves me speechless.
Saturday mom and I continued our time together with a visit from a fortune teller, which was a lot of fun - I really enjoy that kind of stuff for fun, although I am not sure how much I believe it, but it is fun to see if anything she said will happen, really will happen - the great part is, she had a lot of wonderful things to say about my future, so I am not complaining.
Afterward we hit the road to take over boys weekend! Well, technically we were attending JJ's Surprise Birthday party, all the girls and the rest of the family met up and we drove up to the cottage with horns blazing, cars decorated with balloons and streamers, and yes, JJ was very surprised!

I spent most of the party glued to my favorite niece (ok technically my only niece) Lexy and enjoying everyone telling me how awesome Colin is, and how well he fit in, even if they don't want to invite him again next year (kidding), see he won at everything, including poker and some how managed to make a basket playing horse while sitting on a chain fence...still not sure I believe it. ha ha
Mom and I spent another evening catching up with some drinks before calling it quits around 130am.
Sunday, we spent the morning on the dock and by the pool before heading over early to the Lake house to enjoy the sunshine before Colin and I made our way back to London.
The pups were great all weekend, and I absolutely loved having them be free to run around all day.
After our trek home we went to visit mama and papa Turnbull who so graciously gave us a air conditioner! Ran some errands and purchased a new fish! Welcome "Walter" to our family! *Carlos died on Friday :(
All in all, a superb weekend, to which I know I am leaving a ton out. But for the purpose of this post, I am sure you get the gist of it!

Maybe that's what happens When a tornado meets a volcano

I guess in our case it is more like "when a volcano meets a sweet summer breeze" can you guess which one is me and which one is Colin? Ha ha.

Anyway, I digress...
I am currently so obsessed with the song "Love the way you lie" and while I was searching for it on You Tube, I found this video which is a montage of "The Vampire Diaries" set to "Love the way you lie" * cue 14 year old girl squeals of delight*
So, I figured why not share this with the rest of the blogger world.
Enjoy lovelies, enjoy.

Our New Family member!

Please welcome LILY!

It seems to most this seems pretty random for us to get a new puppy out of the blue, but to be honest we have been looking for another dog since we started dating really. We have been keeping our eyes peeled for a long time, and come close a few times, but the timing or the breed just weren't right. Sunday night after our fabulous camping trip, we sifted through kijji and there she was 10 week old "Lily" the Boston Terrier Bulldog cross (she also has pug and collie in there somewhere) and we feel in love with her, she was everything we discussed we wanted and more, so we contacted the owner and went from there. Truly we didn't really expect much, and then just like that, Monday night we were scrambling our way to Westmount to pick her up!

We brought her home last night and introduced her to Ella and aside from being a tad territorial at times, things are going pretty well. Fortunately the family that had her before us also had a small dog, so she learned to stand up for herself pretty well. She isn't aggressive at all, she just knows when to let Ella know that enough is enough. Lily has a pretty laid back, sweet personality and I am confident they will be lovely playmates and sisters in no time.

The family that had her before us, also did a wonderful job crate training Lily which is helping a lot. I must say having Colin around this time around with a puppy makes life a lot easier -and I can already tell that Lily has Colin's heart!

So, here we go on a new adventure together, wish us luck!

"when life gives you a Jeffery, pet a furry wall"

I don't want to do a detailed, play by play of the last little while so here are some pictures of the family fun times that we have been up to. Between the two of us we have 22 nieces and nephews, here are 3 of them ha ha.

Enjoy Blogger world.

How many hipsters does it take to screw in a light bulb? It's a really obscure number. You've probably never heard of it.

I am clearly losing the urge to update this thing.
I am just so bored with it, but today I also happen to be pretty bored at work, which based on last weeks busyness, I am enjoying the slow day, and just waiting for the workload to pile up again.

Which brings me to my new job!
I just started working for Canadian Agra Corp - which is a Canadian based Agriculture company (in case the name didn't give it away). Anyway, the company itself has been around since 1981, but this particular office, is their new "global office" and is just opening up now. So, things are pretty unsettled as far as regular office routine, but so far it is pretty great. Last week I spent most of my time preparing a PowerPoint presentation, that the CEO will be using for his speech at the Austrian Consulate, it is nice to be doing work that actually matters, and uses my brain for once.

Did I mention I got my own business card? And laptop? Hello grown up world!
This of course means that Colin and I will be staying in London for longer than we had been planning, there is no sense moving away, when we are both working in places we are enjoying, even if we are totally disenchanted by London itself.

Lately, we have been spending lots of time with the Turnbull family, and have plans to hit up Bracebridge at the end of June for our last official weekend in my parents place (as the sold it) and then again the last weekend in July, Colin will head to the Lake house for the "boys weekend" and I will be heading up to see my mom for our own mother daughter (ONLY) weekend, which I am really looking forward to!

Final note, go see "Get him to the Greek" HIGHlarious!

" Loving you lots and lots"

Hmm it would appear that I have been neglecting my blog, let me give you a run down of the last little while...

Friday night we were inundated by sever winds and thunderstorms and decided to put the kobosh on our plans to hot yoga it up, and ran to Rainbow to see "Iron Man 2", it was everything I expected it to be I enjoyed it quite a bit, if you liked the first one, you'll enjoy the second!

Saturday we hid from the horrible weather and eventually met up with Katie and Andrew to take Bette and Ed out for Mothers day dinner at Kelseys. The service and food were horrible, but the company was fantastic!

Sunday we went to Joanne's for Mother's day brunch - which thanks to Jen ended up being more like Mothers day late lunch ha ha, but it was worth the wait, and we had another fantastic family day with everyone!
When we returned home, where our apartment was freezing, we decided to kill time at Rainbow, before Sunday night yoga and see "Date Night" again, it was worth the 4.00 to re watch a movie to stay warm. They turned the heat off in the building early this year, because it has been so unseasonably warm - no one expected that we would get a week of rain followed by a weekend of snow, so our apartment was very cold and we had no way to warm it up! Anyway, we followed up the movie with some hot yoga! We finally made it out together! I go on a semi regular basis, but Colin hasn't been with me in over a year! So, it was fantastic to get back in the moksha studio!

Also totally unrelated, but we picked up some TVP (textured vegetable protein) this weekend, at the suggestion of my sister in law, I will follow up with how that turns out!

Used book stores - a love story.

I just wanted to take a moment to mention how much I love used book stores. Seriously, LOVE THEM. Yesterday I wondered into my favorite used book store for a little gander. The book store I am referring to is called "Attic Books".
What is it about "Attic Books" that I like, you ask?
Well, let me tell you, I love the atmosphere, old hard wood floors, big open space, extremely helpful staff, and excellent prices! When I first moved to London, I really liked "City Lights", but eventually the over crowed shelves, small store and disorganization drove me away, my heart now belongs to "Attic Books", because unlike at "City lights" the whole experience feels like an old world book shop, instead of a hipsters paradise. What I enjoy most about it, is the ability to purchase books without dropping a small fortune, like I would if I was at Chapters. Don't get me wrong I still have a pretty big spot in my heart for Libraries, but sometimes there is something nice about becoming the owner of a new book!
Yesterday I picked up Douglas Coupland's "JPOD" and so far I am loving it!

‘cause I don’t know where it’s going but I like where we are...

Time for the weekend wrap up!

This weekend was marvelous.

Friday night we hit up white oaks for some shopping, finally got a pair of shorts that are not 4 sizes too big! Picked up some groceries and even better than clothes and food, we got a new toilet seat! You have no idea how much you take your toilet seat fore-granted until yours is broken!

Saturday night we met up with Darcy, Shelley and her husband Tim at Yuk Yuks! To be honest I was a little nervous about the show, I hear going to Yuk Yuks can be pretty hit and miss, and often the comedians are pretty crude, but the show was free, so we figured we would give it a shot.
Turns out we were extremely fortunate because both comedians were HIGH-LARIOUS.
The comedians were Eddie Della Siepe and Darren Rose and they are also on the show "Video On Trial" which Colin and I enjoy a great deal, so we had high hopes for the show.

Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast at Winks - I always forget how fantastic the breakfast food is there. Colin played baseball and then we hung around the house listening to our new records and the Northcote album that Andrew burned for us.
We actually saw Northcote back at Nite Owl, he opened for Dave Hause. I have to say that Northcote is making its way to my favorite list pretty fast, especially the song "Worry". If you don't know about Northcote, then you should get to googling and learn to love it!

July 19th 2010 - Jack Johnson "To the Sea" tour!

Yesterday, I finally managed to head over to Sunrise and pick up two tickets for Jack Johnson's "To the Sea" tour. This year the concert is being held at The Molson Amphitheater in Toronto. When I saw his "In between Dreams" tour it was held there and it was amazing, however I really dug the "Sleep through the static" tour venue in Oro when it was a "green tour", it was six hours in a sunny field and being under a canopy of stars while he played gave it an even better vibe. Although, I can imagine the reason it is NOT being held there this year probably has something to do with the single lane dirt road to get out of the venue - as it took a solid three hours to get out of the parking lot.
No matter where he plays I know it will be a fantastic show, I am really looking forward to it!
The plan right now is to hit up Burlington on the Saturday and Sunday prior, checking out some new places to live and taking Chirssy's kids to Wonderland, then on the Monday night, hitting up the Concert! SO EXCITED!

Pour Vous mademoiselle Conroy

This is for Jenny. I saw it and remembered how much you love rubber ducks! (maybe all ducks? not just the rubber ones). I totally forgot about that fact about you, until I saw this picture. I said I would tumblr it, but since I now have followers that are not you and Colin, and I don't remember where I got this, I don't want to get internet yelled at for not crediting it, so blogger it is! Enjoy.

Even Fairy Tale Characters Would be Jealous

After our date night on Friday the weekend continued to be pretty fun filled!
Saturday we trekked on over to Coco and had a giggle fest with Kuba as Colin got his hair trimmed, then swung by Starbucks for a quick breakfast before traveling down to White Oaks. Made a sufficient amount of jokes about the scary people on the bus, teen drinking and being shanked, just in time to arrive at Olivia's 2nd Birthday party!
The moment she opened her present, made spending an hour in build a bear stressing over ever detail totally worth it!
After the party we hit up White Oaks mall for a quick shopping date, then met up with Darcy! Colin hit up some Saturday Baseball, while I stayed home and dyed my hair a few shades darker. ( I know, super exciting! ha ha)

After Baseball we decided to head to Winks for some drinks, met up with Krystal, Jackie and Ellerby for some singing (more like singyelling) and drinking fun times!
Sunday we slept till nearly 1pm, then spent the day eating pancakes and watching movies!

Already looking forward to this Saturday, we are going to Yuk Yuks. We already checked out the comedians and they actually seem awesome!

In other news we have made solid plans to head up to my parents for the May long weekend, which I am totally thrilled about.

We ARE the Triplehorns.

Friday night, we decided to have a date night. Western was having an open house at their observatory.
The open house started out with a slide show and sort of lecture about the popular misconseptions associated with astronomy, I went in thinking it might be a little dull, but the lecture turned out to be very interesting, and I learned some pretty neat facts (yeah, I said neat, and now you love me more for it.)
After the lecture we were invited up to the observatory patio to view various telescopes directed at the moon. But the best part of the evening was using the GIANT telescope inside the observatory to view Saturn. It also added to the ambiance of the evening that the professor that showed us Saturn was EXACTLY like Christopher Walken circa "Back to the future" give or take 50 pounds. (More give than take, so maybe not exactly ha ha.)
After our sweet evening of viewing the stars, we headed to Prince Al's for some greasy diner food and strawberry milkshakes!
Definitely a wonderful date night!

As we sway, the music is playing our notes

I said I wouldn't write posts simply outlining my weekend, but who really thought that was going to happen?
I will try to do a quick run down, instead of outlining every moment in exquisite detail ha ha.

Friday: As I mentioned was the Bad Ideas show. Tina, Jenny, Jen and Leslie met us at Call the Office and together we rocked out to a pretty kick ass performance. I thoroughly enjoyed cameo singing performances from Nick, and the cover of "Run Around Sue"
Weird side note, Jenny went to High school with Alex - the lead singer.
Saturday: Took in some fine Saturday shopping, checked out some new beds and did some questioning as to why we keep coming to the mall on Saturdays. Went to see CHLOE at Silvercity, it was not nearly as good as we were expecting. Since we had taken a mid day nap for about three hours, we were wide awake and starving at 1am and ordered in some PIZZA!
Sunday: Finally got to have a nice long sleep in together. Headed out to Smitty's for brunch and met up with Darcy for some more bed hunting and grocery shopping. Hit up the laundry mat, and came home to relax and prepare for another long week.

Once again, another spectacular weekend with my favorite person on the planet.

Dirty Little Looks

So excited for this evening! Tonight is The Bad Idea's CD release party at Call the Office! I feel like we have waited forever and ever for them to finally release this album. Well a year and one month minus a day ha ha. Part of the reason we love this band, aside from the fact that they are awesome, is that we saw them play for the very first time, on our very first date. Our very first date happened to be St. Patrick's day 2009 - We went to Black Shire and sipped on White Russians while bobbing to the sweet tunes of our soon to be favorite band, (well, favorite local band anyway). Tonight they play on our 1.1 anniversary, which is one year and one month - oh yes, you can expect me to count each month.
I am also pretty pumped that Tina, Leslie and Jenny are going to come out with us tonight!

The album is called "Dirty Little Looks" and as always I suggest you check it out!

The art of language

I had my first ASL class tonight and it was INCREDIBLE! There are not enough words in the English language, or any language for that matter to describe how great it was.
One of the best parts of this class, is that my teacher, is actually deaf. From the moment class started, he started to immerse us in sign language, and when the only choice is to figure out what he is signing, you learn, and you learn fast. I mean of course he is incredibly patient and an excellent teacher, he didn't just walk in acting like we should be able to just catch on or anything, his methods are pretty great, not to mention his sense of humor makes everything feel a lot easier and more comfortable.
However, if we struggle or there is a lot that needs to be said, we have to result to spelling out the words we don't know (signing of course) SOMETIMES, it needs to be brought to the board and actually written out, it is pretty amazing, to basically have no talking in the class and be totally over taken by the art of the language itself. I am so excited for next week, I wish that I could go every single day. Really I wish I knew someone else that signed, I am going to have to use my free time to find a hearing impaired friend, which I am sure I could if I looked hard enough on Kijji I could ha ha.

They stabbed a Chicken McNugget with a Sharpie...These are not good people!

Also for those of you that have not checked out my tumblr blog, or just prefer not to, here is my new hair! For those of you that want to also see my other blog click here

Present day? Any time of day.

Smoothies are delicious and nutritious!

When we went grocery shopping this weekend, we were determined to work in some healthy food, and decided to make smoothies a way to cram in some fruit and even a vegetable!
A VEGETABLE!?! You ask...how is this even possible?
Well my little blogger friends, I will tell you. I recently read that putting spinach in your fruit smoothie was an excellent way to add a vegetable into your diet, and the best part (for Colin) is that you can't even taste it, so long as you add a banana to the blend.
At the store, we had trouble distinguishing the spinach from other leafy greens, BUT we were able to find it in frozen form - it comes in a bag like the mixed frozen berries, the spinach is even portioned into cubes for easy use!
Side note spinach i s also a wonderful vegetable option because it is so high in iron - especially for the ladies, as we are always running short on iron for some reason. ANYWAY, we tried this out, and created a very healthy vitamin, antioxidant and other good stuff rich smoothie! Here is the recipe we are using currently

1 whole tray of ice cubes
1/2 cup orange juice (we use the kind with vitamin D and Calcium added)
1/4 cup (ish) of mixed frozen berries
1 cup nonfat yogurt (we like the blueberry pomegranate option, more antioxidants this way!)
1 banana
1 cube of frozen spinach

Blend

Ta-Da a yummy smoothie - this recipe makes two very large servings!

This is just our first shot at smoothie making, I am sure we will find other ways to sneak in some other healthy things that we don't usually get in our regular diet.

Sex Part Deux

I know I am a giant wiener and I promised myself I wouldn't even WANT to see this unnecessary squeal, I don't even LIKE squeals, but the trailer is just so shiny and pretty, and I have to admit, I want to see it. I am going to see it. In fact I am excited to see it. In fact I can't WAIT to see it.

Ugh! I am such a huge nerd. Don't judge me out there in blogger reader world. We all have vices, and this just happens to be one of mine, that and I am judging myself enough for all of you.

In other news, I have another blog - because I am just THAT nerdy.
Anyway, feel free to follow it. This blog is mostly random posts of pictures, quotes and links and less talky talk.

Enjoy!

Jenny, I stole this from your Tumblr

Because it is so radtastically awesome, and makes me happy. As radtastically awesome things generally do.

I like to move it move it

Back in the work out saddle again!
I thought it would probably be good for my mind and body to get physical again..."let's get physical, physical...." alright I digress, like I said I wanted to get back in the gym, not for any weight loss reasons, I am actually pretty satisfied with that area of things, but I want to be healthy and not a fat kid in a skinny body, SO I started back yesterday and did the most insane work out of my life - alright that is a lie, however I was surprised, that an aqua fit class could actually be beneficial, and for more than just rounding out my social circle with some elderly adds. I am probably going to try to work in an aqua fit at least once a week along with some other classes that are a little more intense as well as a lot more hot yoga.

ABC... easy as... 123...or simple as...Do re mi

As of yesterday, I am officially headed back to school!
By fluke Colin brought a Fanshawe course calendar for the spring home on Tuesday evening and there it was, the beginning of my future just waiting for me to accept it. So that is precisely what I did. The next morning I went straight to the registrars office and signed up for the first American Sign Language class (of many) that I will be required to take on my journey to becoming a interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired. I head back to school starting April 15!

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch...

On Tuesday I went to the spa and had my eyebrows waxed, during this treatment, the very blunt, esthetician informed me, in her exact words: "You dry skin! You need exfoliate more!"
At first I was a little offended, then I realized being offended would be silly, because on that particular day, I did in fact have dry skin. Fortunately for me, she did not stop there, she proceeded to give me a recipe for a homemade scrub, she swore it was the very best and also very inexpensive - she shared this recipe with me, and now I will share it with you, blogger world, because I believe, sharing is caring!

Face and Body scrub:

1 tablespoon white sugar

3 tablespoons honey
(more or less, it is up to you)

a few drops of water (just to make it easier to mix)

Mix together with a spoon. The consistency will be fairly thick. Rub this on your damp face and massage in small circles, leave on for about 15 minutes (this is where the thickness is handy.) Rinse off, then wash your face as you normally would.

I did not attempt this full procedure on my body - only because I didn't want to have to stand covered in goop for 15 minutes, I just applied it in the shower and rinsed off.

Volia homemade scrub = an incredibly smooth you!

This recipe really didn't take a lot of convincing, since I use a similar leg scrub in the bath after working out to sooth acing muscles only replacing the sugar with sea salt and water with olive oil Anyway, I tried this yesterday and it is by far the very best scrub I have ever come into contact with, give it a try!

Get her fax number and let's get out of here...

I have been avoiding blogging lately, as I have been recently inspired by the wonderful Mrs. Melissa Graham Burke's way of blogging, Hive Honey which generally does not outline a complete minute by minute break down of her weekend, and instead is used as a tool to express thoughts that bounce around her head. This was my plan when I originally set out on this blogging journey, but my obsession with documenting each phenomenal moment with Colin has sort of taken me off track and basically bored me out of my own blog. That of course isn't to say that life with my Colin is boring, but perhaps describing everything as "awesome" repeatedly is what really set it off on the route of utter boredom for me.
The problem was, once I decided to change the way I wrote my blog, I became overwhelmed with that idea, and didn't really know how to start. Sure, I would come up with the most riviting of topics, but only as I drifted into sleep in the wee hours of the night, only to wake up with no recolection of what I had been inspired to write before. This is my first step into the new blogging Jena; coming soon will be less random updates of my day and more random attempts at clearing out the clutter in my own head. Although I am not going to promise that I wont continue to mention just how wonderful life is with Colin in my life.

We've got eachother and that's a lot

Just because I don't feel that I have gone on and on enough about how wonderful this last year has been, and haven't made all of you want to poke your eyeballs out while throwing up (or something to that effect right Jenny?) I thought I would add a picture collage of our year...You're Welcome internet world!

the butter to my bread and the breath to my life

Friday night Andrew and Katie picked us up and we went to Colin's parents for a marvelous chicken dinner! Andrew also gave us a new Johnny Cash (double) record The man comes around. And it has pretty much been the theme to our whole weekend!
This weekend we continued our celebration of our one year anniversary!
We started off Saturday with a trip to the Red Roaster - since it was the scene of where it all began, we ordered some coffee and headed to the muffin place for some over sized muffins and decided to catch a matinee while we were in the area. We saw "Diary of a Wimpy kid" which actually turned out to be pretty cute, it was basically "Mean Girls" but for boys in the 5th grade.
Since the weather turned out to be cold and crummy we had our dinner ordered in (Pad Thai) and then proceeded to get our drink on! We started out at Winks (for obvious reasons) and then wanted to get our dance on at Joe Kool's, but there was a ridiculous line, and we decided to bail before I reenact the doorman scene from knocked up.
We headed over to Poachers and ran into Dally and some friend of Colin's who he hasn't scene for about 6 years, it ended up working out really well that Kools didn't work out and the band played "Livin' on a Prayer" and really that is the only thing we NEEDED out of Kools to properly celebrate! After we closed down the bar, Colin piggy backed me (also reminiscent of the beginning of us) to Stabby's for some after bar pizza!
Sunday ended up being a lot nicer out than predicted, so we took a nice long walk, rented "Julie and Julia" and came home to some wonderful left overs courtesy of Bette Turnbull.
"Julie and Julia" ended up being really good and part way through we decided to take a stroll to McDonalds for a Milk Shake - not quite the french cooking that we had been drooling over, but scrumptious just the same!
This weekend was perfect! A splendid way to celebrate our year of awesomeness!

Also, Colin has a new blog you should follow it too! The Sweet Life
