Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart

Tuesday night Colin and I went over to Tina's for some serious Pumpkin carving!( is it possible to seriously carve a pumpkin? lol) It has been fun starting holiday traditions together!
We have been spending a lot of time, watching scary movies to get into the spirit of Halloween; last night we watched "The Orphan" which was a lot like "The good son" but even better, I was surprised at how good it was, it was nice to watch a scary movie, that wasn't super lame. The last few days I have been battling a pretty epic cold, so no big plans until Saturday night...HALLOWEEN!!!

Let's take the moon and make it shine for everyone

This weekend was VERY busy! Saturday after Colin helped Darcy move, we headed to Burlington to stay with his sister Chrissie. Saturday night we took his niece Hailey and her friend to Wonderland for the Halloween Haunt. Wonderland was AMAZING and terrifying. Colin and I went into one haunted house called "blood shed" basically it was an enclosed maze packed with people and monsters jump out at you, I was actually scared out of my mind. Colin protected me from the monsters and got us out safely ha ha.
They also had all these costume guys running around yelling and chasing us! At the end of the night, we tried to get a group picture, but instead Hailey and I ended up getting chased out of the park, screaming at the top of our lungs! We returned back to Chrissie's where Colin and I had the wonderful sleeping arrangement of a child size single bed ha ha. We made it work though!

Sunday we hung out with Molly, Colin's 5 year old neice, before heading off on our search for the perfect Halloween costume! After an hour and a half at the costume store we finally found a great idea - but it is a secret! After killing some more time in Burlington, we headed down to Toronto for the Get up Kids concert. We got into Toronto pretty early, and discovered that we were already exhausted, so we decided to check into our favorite hotel (since it was a block from the concert) instead of trying to drive home after midnight.
After we checked in we headed right over to the Phoenix to watch the Get up Kids reunite after 5 years! The concert was awesome! The concert was mostly for Colin, I had heard a few songs, but didn't know them that well, but after the concert I really like them a lot. Being introduced to a band live might be the best possible way to get into them!

After the concert we headed up the street to our favorite bar, and in a "it's a small world" moment, our server was someone that Colin knew from Goderich, a guy he grew up with and was an alter boy with! Crazy!
Monday morning we were EXHAUSTED and headed right back to London, before taking our rental car back we hit up the grocery store and bought some pumpkins to carve tonight at Tina's. The rest of the night was very quiet since we were exhausted!
All in all, we had yet another fantastic weekend together!

It's as simple as something that nobody knows that her eyes are as big as her bubbly toes

This morning, missing my dear God daughter Addison, Ortal was awesome enough to send me some pictures! Basically I am just posting them to show how sweet and adorable she is and because I love her to little teeny tiny pieces!

This is where Ortal found her sleeping this morning!

I love this picture, she looks so GORGEOUS!

Some movie thoughts...

I don't normally "blog" on here, I more so state what I have been up to, but I was pretty impressed with 500 days of Summer, last night. I really enjoyed the honest portrayal of relationships; which isn't something you often get out of Hollywood. - So I thought I would ramble some thoughts about it!

Tom goes through what the majority of people do at some point in their life. You meet someone and feel that the relationship is perfect, and that they are the "one". So you stay totally blinded by the truth of the relationship, ignoring signs and feelings that it just isn't working - maybe you argue, maybe they don't put you first whatever it is, looking back at a break- up, later, you always see it, and you know you knew it was there the whole time, but you didn't want to see it or admit it. You stay holding on to the relationship with all your might, even though it is hurting you to do so. Most of us have been through this, and when it ends you feel that there is no way you are ever going to be happy again, that no one will fill the standards that the last person set. What I enjoyed a great deal about the movie is that it actually took a realistic view on this, and showed that just as the other person moved on to what makes them happier, eventually the other person does too, and often with someone that doesn't make them feel insecure about the relationship everyday and makes them happy instead. They really showed that, if one person steps out of the relationship - it wasn't meant to be, but it wasn't for nothing, because with every person we are with, we learn and grow and love more. Having already gone through these motions myself, and finding my "Autumn" (which only makes sense if you have seen the movie) I thought it was great to see a more truthful look at relationships, break- ups and moving on with your life. It makes people that have been through it nod, smile and hold their new love a little tighter and realize just how lucky they are and yes that is directed at you Colin :) ; it makes those currently going through it, sigh in relief that there could really be a light at the end of the heartbreak tunnel.

The other movie thought is much shorter, so stay with me.
Last night there was an add for a new Disney movie. I was so excited that they were actually coming out with a children' s movie that wasn't digitally animated - back to the old school "cartoon" version! However, after my excitement passed I thought to myself; Disney still hasn't grown - after all these years, nothing has changed. Yes they made this princess of African decent, which hardly seems like growth, but more of a "token" character - one that they can now sell to children of colour (just like they did years ago with the introduction of a brown haired lead). No doubt a doll they can hope to see in the hands of one of President Obama's children - to up their sales.
I digress, my point is that she is still a "princess" needing to be rescued needing her "prince" to find/save her. Dear Disney, let out the waist lines of your Princess' and give these women some stronger personalities! Although, I fear that even if they did, it would become a baseline for jokes and be just another token. *sigh*

Just a picture perfect day that last a whole lifetime

I have been wanting to see this, since I discovered the trailer, back in the spring. Unfortunately I could never find it listed anywhere in London. I thought I was going to have to wait until it came out on DVD. BUT fortunately the great love of mine, discovered that it is in fact playing here - even better it is playing at the Western Film so it's super cheap! I am pretty excited for our date!

Where everybody knows your name

At the last minute last night, we decided to hit up Rainbow for a late movie! (Two Toonie Tuesday!) We saw "Law Abiding Citizen" which we had pretty low expectations for. I also, was a little hesitant to watch a movie where someone goes around killing police officers, lawyers and judges, but the movie surprised us by being interesting and suspenseful - even a little graphic. They even held back on the cheese - aside from a nearly nude scene of Gerard Butler (which I don't think any women in the audience would protest too loudly) and a fire scene at the end, they kept the cheese safe for the lactose intolerant in the crowd.
Overall a pretty good movie!

After the movie we found out Winks - aka our favorite bar; also has a $3.00 Corona night! Finding this out of course we decided to hit up some of that action! We had a fabulous time despite the Western students that managed to step out of the line for Jacks, just long enough to find out that Winks exists.

We could close the curtains, Pretend like there's no world outside

Colin cooking pancakes!

Ella and I waiting for the pancakes and enjoying some sweet coffee!

Not too sure why we used such a huge plate for the banana with banana's pancakes.

Sunday morning, Colin made me Banana Pancakes to start off our day of hibernation - well except when he played baseball and I went to the grocery store! As I mentioned earlier we later watched "Sleepy Hollow" and then took Ella for a nice long walk, with a trip to Starbucks for some Apple Caramel Cider! All in all the weekend was a huge success.

What's YOUR favorite scary movie?

Saturday night after we returned from the mall and the movies, we decided to have a "Halloween-a-thon" we picked up a few scary movies and some candy and stared the scream fest!
We rented "Drag me to hell", "Scream" and "Sleepy Hallow" and stayed up almost all night watching them! Followed by a few episodes of Entourage so that I could fall asleep afterward!

"Drag me to hell" was really bad. I thought it would be the scariest movie we picked, I expected a lot of gore. It wasn't scary, it was really lame and predictable and Justin Long's character was very boring, and really only there to be a Mac sponsor. I rolled my eyes more than covered them. Since I scare easily, this says a lot about this movie.
I haven't watched scream in years, and it was AWESOME. Scream was the first scary movie I remember seeing, and it still had the same affect on me. I am glad we stuck with a classic for the evening. Something that was nostalgic as well as somewhat scary! (more so when it ends and you are left in the dark with the memory of it!)

We didn't actually get around to watching "Sleepy Hollow" until Sunday night, but it was the perfect end to our Halloween kick off. Plus the ambiance that mother nature produced outside made it perfect for this movie! There is just something about this movie that makes me want to watch it every Halloween. To me the best Halloween movies take place in the 17 or 1800's using folklore or mythology.

There is one in all of us

Saturday after a few hours of shopping ( I have officially changed my mind about Flannel, because it looks smokin' hot on Colin!) Colin and I hit up the cineplex to see "where the wild things are". I remember reading the book when I was little, but I can't say it was a huge part of my childhood, but when I saw that Dave Eggars wrote the screen play and Spike Jones directed it, I knew it was going to be WONDERFUL - especially at the cineplex. I love childrens movies that actually have imagination, that don't rely on silly hidden adult humor or pop culture to be entertaining. Where the wild things are was everything I thought it would be - put to a sweet soundtrack!

Please Mr. Postman, look and see If there's a letter, oh yeh for me.

Friday I got the best birthday card - and I got it in the MAIL! Who doesn't love mail? The card was from Amy, Shauna, Ann, Rhianna and Sharon - sooo sweet!

Time Without Consequence

Last night I met Colin after work and we headed over to his parents for dinner. It ended up being a really amazing time. Jen introduced me to "Pino Noir" which has now taken over my love for "shiraz". Jen, Colin, his parents and I hung around the dinner table all evening talking and drinking some fabulous wine. Jen's boys Matthew and Josh were there as well, and as it turns out Matthew has a crush on me ha ha. I thought it was pretty adorable. He even lied to Colin and I telling us, he was 8 not 7 - to make himself a little older. His cute crush worked really well in our favor because whenever he started to complain about being bored, I would ask him to draw me something - what his Halloween costume is going to be, what mine should be, what our pumpkins should look like etc. I now have all the drawings on our fridge!

All and all the evening was a really great bonding experience, and I am beginning to love his family a little more everytime I see them. Next weekend we are headed to his sister Chrissie's house, we are taking her daughter Hailey and Hailey's friend to Canada's Wonderland for the Halloween Haunt. Considering toast popping out of the toaster often makes me jump (and sometimes scream) it should be a blast! After the trip to Wonderland we are going to stay overnight at Chrissie's and then head into Toronto Sunday for the "Get up Kids" concert!

Tonight, to get the Halloween mood rolling we are having a halloween moive-a-thon! Very excited - I love October, and Halloween AND COLIN - Obvs.

"i don't know what type of road you're on, but i can't come along for this journey"

Last night Colin and I had a lovely date night. First we went to see "Couples Retreat" which despite horrible reviews I loved it! Of course it is your typical Vince Vaughn movie, so it wasn't like I was expecting academy award winning writing or acting, but it made me laugh - a lot, so that's all that matters!
Afterward we strolled on over to Crabby Joe's for our new Wednesday treat - for some $3.oo Corona's and nachos!
As always we had a blast together! Pretty nice when an average day together is always spectacular!

Find a sweater and you'll be better. Autumn's here, autumn's here.

This weekend Colin and I headed North for some family time!
We got in pretty late on Friday night and went right to sleep. Saturday it was actually nice out so we decided to hit the hot shopping in Bracebridge ha ha. Colin searched for flannel (oy) and we made a stop at the new and oddly fancy McDonalds for a Lunch date, before heading back to my parents for Thanksgiving dinner with my grandparents - which was fabulous!
Sunday we went into Barrie to visit my other grandparents, my aunt and cousins had a very informal Thanksgiving dinner where we watched Colin try not to throw a shoe at the TV when the Red Sox lost...and then headed back up North.
My little brother surprised me with a birthday gift - ENTOURAGE season 5 which we then proceeded to watch for the rest of the night. Monday morning, we lazed around and took a nice long walk along the river with Ella and Chloe. Then we came home to hang out with my family and watched "Away we go" with my mom!
Sadly we had to head back to London Monday night
It was a wonderful and very relaxing weekend!

Click! Oh you blinked! Dammit now that's in my brain forever.

BEST!

In Other Nerdy News

I dropped my phone in a toilet at the Moksha studio the other day, fortuantly Jenny knew exactly what to do to save it. Put it in a bag of rice! IT WORKED!

A typical evening with my Coiln. Yes WE made a heart shaped cookie with our intials and yes, we ate it in one sitting.

Let the play off beard BEGIN!
This is my life, and I am madly in love with it!

" What do you think I rap for? To Push a F-ing Rav 4?"

Alright so my title has nothing to do with this post, but it has been stuck in my head since last weekend, and I am hoping that writing it down will help remove it from the constant repeat from my brain.
Anywhosle,
Tonight Colin and I are headed up for the long journey up to my parents house!
I am so excited to go home - I love my parents house so much! Their place is so relaxing and amazing. Since the baseball playoffs are on right now, I imagine that my mom and I will have a lot of one on one time to drink too much wine and chat until we drop, while Colin enjoys some flat screen baseball awesomeness!
We are also hitting up Barrie Sunday afternoon to visit my grandparents. Colin has yet to meet these grandparents, but I know that they will love him (because they love everyone) and that he will love them, because they are the nicest people on the planet! My aunt and cousins Sam and Hannah will be there as well. My dad sadly will not be attending as he has to be in New York for work, not sure yet if my sisters will still make an appearance, but I really hope so!

HOT HOT HEAT

I haven't been to hot yoga in what seems like a lifetime. I decided to head out and hit up a class today, and it was amazing. The studio itself has been renovated - mostly just updated, and it looks great. I had a new instructor today, and nearly every pose we went through was one I hadn't ever tried. It was challanging and felt wonderful! While I was there I saw that they are doing the 30 day challange again, they have classes that run all day and pretty late, so fitting it into my schedule wouldn't be hard. There is only one full day that I would be out of London, and apparently if you practice on your own that day it still counts. Iam pretty certian I will take part! It just something to my mind and body I can't even begin to describe, I am glad I decided to get back into it today!

Birthday part 3 "Boom Boom Pow"

After breakfast we went for a swim

Mr. October audition

The one part of Nuit Blanche we managed to see

Our Fridge -because we are classy

Colin letting me know how much he requires a haircut

Singing and drinking

Walk back to the hotel Saturday night

Birthday part deux "It's not a hipster beard, it's just a BEARD"

We arrived at the Sutton Place Hotel ate some subs and headed to see David Cross- which we didn't take any pictures of...because we weren't allowed. The show was pretty great, not quite as awesome as Louis CK but a close second for sure!
After the show we wandered around Toronto in seach of some snacks, we found a 24 hour Sobeys a block away from our hotel! We purchased some very healthy food - chips, ice tea and BIRTHDAY PIE - which ended up being some of the best pie I have ever had in my life. Shortly after our feast we passed out!
