Get her fax number and let's get out of here...

I have been avoiding blogging lately, as I have been recently inspired by the wonderful Mrs. Melissa Graham Burke's way of blogging, Hive Honey which generally does not outline a complete minute by minute break down of her weekend, and instead is used as a tool to express thoughts that bounce around her head. This was my plan when I originally set out on this blogging journey, but my obsession with documenting each phenomenal moment with Colin has sort of taken me off track and basically bored me out of my own blog. That of course isn't to say that life with my Colin is boring, but perhaps describing everything as "awesome" repeatedly is what really set it off on the route of utter boredom for me.
The problem was, once I decided to change the way I wrote my blog, I became overwhelmed with that idea, and didn't really know how to start. Sure, I would come up with the most riviting of topics, but only as I drifted into sleep in the wee hours of the night, only to wake up with no recolection of what I had been inspired to write before. This is my first step into the new blogging Jena; coming soon will be less random updates of my day and more random attempts at clearing out the clutter in my own head. Although I am not going to promise that I wont continue to mention just how wonderful life is with Colin in my life.

We've got eachother and that's a lot

Just because I don't feel that I have gone on and on enough about how wonderful this last year has been, and haven't made all of you want to poke your eyeballs out while throwing up (or something to that effect right Jenny?) I thought I would add a picture collage of our year...You're Welcome internet world!

the butter to my bread and the breath to my life

Friday night Andrew and Katie picked us up and we went to Colin's parents for a marvelous chicken dinner! Andrew also gave us a new Johnny Cash (double) record The man comes around. And it has pretty much been the theme to our whole weekend!
This weekend we continued our celebration of our one year anniversary!
We started off Saturday with a trip to the Red Roaster - since it was the scene of where it all began, we ordered some coffee and headed to the muffin place for some over sized muffins and decided to catch a matinee while we were in the area. We saw "Diary of a Wimpy kid" which actually turned out to be pretty cute, it was basically "Mean Girls" but for boys in the 5th grade.
Since the weather turned out to be cold and crummy we had our dinner ordered in (Pad Thai) and then proceeded to get our drink on! We started out at Winks (for obvious reasons) and then wanted to get our dance on at Joe Kool's, but there was a ridiculous line, and we decided to bail before I reenact the doorman scene from knocked up.
We headed over to Poachers and ran into Dally and some friend of Colin's who he hasn't scene for about 6 years, it ended up working out really well that Kools didn't work out and the band played "Livin' on a Prayer" and really that is the only thing we NEEDED out of Kools to properly celebrate! After we closed down the bar, Colin piggy backed me (also reminiscent of the beginning of us) to Stabby's for some after bar pizza!
Sunday ended up being a lot nicer out than predicted, so we took a nice long walk, rented "Julie and Julia" and came home to some wonderful left overs courtesy of Bette Turnbull.
"Julie and Julia" ended up being really good and part way through we decided to take a stroll to McDonalds for a Milk Shake - not quite the french cooking that we had been drooling over, but scrumptious just the same!
This weekend was perfect! A splendid way to celebrate our year of awesomeness!

Also, Colin has a new blog you should follow it too! The Sweet Life

Eat, Pray, Love

I read Eat, Pray, Love a few years ago, and it was and remains one of my favorite books of all time. I recommend every girl read it and then read it again!
I am so excited for this to come out!

Take my hand and we'll make it I swear

Today is the day! Today is our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! As I am sure all of the posts since I started this blog can tell you, this has been by far the happiest year of my life! I can not believe that it has been a full year already. It feels so good to be celebrating this anniversary with the most spectacularly wonderful loveliest person I have ever met. It blows my mind every single day that I get to spend every single day with my best friend and the love of my life, how easy life is together and how fun everything we do together is, is something I am insanely grateful for every single second.
While our actual official celebration doesn't start until this weekend, we decided to kick off this wondrous event last night with this years first trip to Marble Slab, we came home and watched the movie "Big" and rang in our anniversary at 12am like it was new years!
While I can go on and on and on about how happy I am, and how outstandingly fantastic Colin is, I think I will spare you....only because you can count on this not being the only post about this anniversary!
Tonight a mini celebration will take place with dinner and a trip to the movies!
In case you missed it...I am so happy and madly in love with you Colin!!! xoxo

Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast...

I can't believe it is already Sunday, this weekend just flew by.
Friday night Colin and I experimented with a rice, veggie and tofu stir fry, which turned out to be absolutely delectable. We watched Juno and just hung around the house, avoiding the drery weather outside.

Unfortunately the dreary weather only got worse by Saturday, but we didn't let that stop us from having a productive day; we did a little record hunting, laundry and Colin picked up his tickets for ETID. Since Krystina was in town we decided to head out for some drinks. We started out at Poachers hoping to avoid the UFC crowd at Winks. Poachers was pretty lame so we took the rainy windy trek over to winks. Winks had some random two man band playing, which equaled a lot of excited singing to Bon Jovi and Journey. We left the bar at close which thanks to daylight savings meant that we didn't get home until after 3am. Krystina stayed over night at our place, and Darcy headed home.

Sunday Krystina and I went to Silvercity to see Alice in Wonderland (in 3D). I have heard mixed reviews of this movie, but I loved it! I am a pretty huge Alice in wonderland fan, I read and re read the Lewis Carol book over and over growing up and the Disney cartoon movie was one of my favorites. The movie doesn't follow the original story instead it offers another story, where Alice returns to wonderland 13 years later, I thought this idea was brilliant, a wonderful way to breathe new life into old characters and story lines. I would say that if you were ever a fan of Alice, then you will find this worth watching!
I returned home just in time to hang out with Andrew and Colin for a little while before they headed off to see ETID.

The weather this weekend was disgusting, it was reminiscent of a November day - only worse, but we managed to make the best of it, and have a pretty phenomenal time!

I kiss you all starry eyed, my body's swinging from side to side

Also last night Colin surprised me with a one year anniversary gift! Don't worry Jenny you haven't forgotten your own anniversary...yet. This gift was a week early! He gave me a brand new pair of these little babies! I love them! And I love him! I am really excited to be celebrating our first year anniversary next week! It is going to be awesome and epic, just like us! I can't believe we are already celebrating our first year anniversary! Time has flown!

Oh baby baby it's a wild world...

Last night Colin and I hopped on the bus to Masonville and ran some errands, mostly involving Colin purchasing lighter flannel wear and new "grown up" shoes. He is pretty excited that he was able to buy a new shirt, in size medium to boot! I believe his exact words were "found a sweet wrangler shirt today, my life is complete. and i got it in size MED, haven't been a MED since about grade 4." and by "words" I mean he tweeted ha ha...

We also hit the grocery store and managed to pick up some pretty healthy items, not for weight loss reasons (we don't Colin in a small ha ha) but peppers, mushrooms and some other healthy treats that Colin will actually eat, and that will help my body from screaming for veggies! We even decided to try out some tofu. Usually the only time we eat tofu is when they put it in our pad thai - generally I end up giving Colin most of mine, but after seeing an interview with the author of "Eating Animals" I decided to try to cut down on my meat intake. We already hardly eat any red meat, well I hardly eat any Colin doesn't eat any. I don't want to become a Vegetarian or anything, but maybe pay more attention to where my food comes from and why I am eating it. Adding more healthy items and subtracting less healthy items of food can only work out in our benefit. Tonight is the veggie tofu stir fry, I'll let you know how it turns out!

Well would you look at that...

I hate people that get excited about Roll up the Rim almost as much as I hate people that refer to Tim Hortons as "Timmies" or talk about how much they LOVE their Timmies coffee...but today I got a coffee (from a gift card no less) and guess what?!?

I won a free coffee! Ha Ha Ha.

Afternoon smiles

And in the totally unrelated to anything category...

I ate this last night, I don't think I have had one since I was in high school and can I just say...
GOOD GOD THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I forgot how tasty this salty little meal (and I use that term loosely) really is! I am quite certain I can't wait to eat another one for lunch!

Concreate jungle where dreams are made of...

Monday night was the big "Keys to the Suite" Alicia Keys night!
In an attempt not to babble on forever, I will give you the cliffs notes version of the evening!

This is how it went down...
Around 4 Chrissie and Mary came to pick me up and we headed over to Joanne's to finish getting ready and have a little bit of a pre-drink before the limo arrived.
Around 5:30 the Limo picked us up and we enjoyed another beverage on our way to the restaurant.
While on our journey we learned an exciting bit of news, and that is that Becky (Neil's fiance) is expecting (her third his second), she is due in October!
We arrived at Chello just before 6, ordered some more drinks and then enjoyed a very scrumptious meal, (I had the rainbow trout). Before we left they gave us a dessert treat - a shot called "Apple Pie" which was outstanding and then we made the long trek across the street to the JLC where where we were taken upstairs to our private suite!
Around 9pm Alicia Keys came on and put on a phenomenal performance!
I was actually surprised with how many songs I was familiar with, I thought that I wouldn't know much of her new stuff, but she mixed it up with her older stuff and songs that I had totally forgotten about, knowing more songs made it a lot more enjoyable.
The whole night was amazing, and a great time all around, I enjoyed every minute of it!
After the show, our limo driver came to pick us up and took us home.

I didn't take a lot of pictures, basically I was just lazy ha ha, but here are a few I took and a few I stole from Joanne.

We Are FAMILY!

Friday night Tina picked us up and we headed out on our 4 hour journey to Bracebridge to see my family!
The entire weekend was spectacular!
I am pretty sure this was the first time all of the family managed to make it up to the house, when it wasn't a holiday. Having Quentin and Angie, JJ and Fabielle living in Orillia makes that a little bit easier - now we just have to move closer!
The weekend was full of family hang outs and me hogging the attention of my niece Lexy. We also threw in a trip to get my little brothers hair cut!

A few highlights include:

* Family dinner complete with vegetables!
* Sitting around the table telling stories and laughing till we can't breathe
* Getting Cubed
*Colin's spectacular pancake breakfast
*Mom's Bacon
*Champagne and Orange Juice
*Lexy
*Mom time!
It is funny how two days up their can feel like a week long vacation. I had the best time, and look forward to moving closer so that our drive doesn't take 4-6 hours!
Mom and Colin making breakfast! What up pj's at 11 am!

Hello new time waster...I think I love you

I was just introduced to Skins a "coming of age" teen drama type show, that doesn't try to be trendy (no one is busting out their i-phones), doesn't sugar coat things and doesn't try to be anything more than it is - stories about teenagers in the UK. I am really digging it so far.

I’m going to make it by any means I got a pocketful of dreams

About a week ago Colin's sister Joanne won a radio show prize to see Alicia Keys called "Keys to the Suite" basically the way it works is she and 9 of her friends are treated to a night out - limo ride, fine dining, backstage passes and a suite to see the show from, and last night Joanne asked ME to be one of her 9 friends! I am really excited! I mean I don't necessary listen to a lot of Alicia Keys, but lets face it, lady has some sweet pipes and anything she does will be fantastic! Mostly I am just so happy that Joanne included me to be a part of the evening. I tried to Google some more information about this prize and all I found was a blog from some 40 year old woman complaining that Joanne won and not her...too funny, if you are super bored you can check it out oldladyblog.

One step closer to earning my thick rimmed glasses!

I have finally become nerdy enough to be able to make links work within my blog, instead of cut and pasting them, just to have most of them not work!

Dear Google, Thank you for helping me nerdify myself.

Now maybe I will stop getting the side eye from all you seasoned blogger's (Jenny) ha ha.

So for my first attempt at this, you can check out one of many blogs I have been digging lately (click the highlighted and underlined words) Fuckyeahlove - which coincidentally is also where I found this photo!

At Second Glance

Last night Colin and I decided to take in Shutter Island for a second time around. (I love toonie Tuesdays at Rainbow.)
The second viewing of this movie, was even better than the first, it allowed me to look at everything from a different perspective - the perspective of knowing! Knowing the twists and turns of the movie, allowed me to sit back and watch everything unfold, which it seem to do in almost a totally different way. This movie is incredible and if you haven't gone out to see it yet go now, and then go back a week later to watch it again, the second viewing almost makes it another movie within itself!
Also, I am now on the hunt for the Shutter Island book that the movie is based on, I am interested to know how the movie is different and how things are portrayed when you are reading them, instead of watching them!

Rose Of My Heart

Rose Of My Heart

We're the best partners this world's ever seen

Together we're as close as can be
But sometimes it's hard to find time in between
To tell you what you mean to me

You are the rose of my heart

You are the love of my life

A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.
When sorrow holds you in it's arms of clay
It's raindrops that fall from your eyes
Your smile is the sun come to earth for a day

You brighten my blackest of skies
You are the rose of my heart
You are the love of my life

A flower not faded nor falling apart

If you're cold let my love make you warm
Rose of my heart
So hard times aren't easy times, what do I care
There's nothing I'd change if I could

The tears and the laughter are things that we share
Your hand in mine makes it good
You are the rose of my hear
t
You are the love of my life
A flower not faded nor falling apart
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.

You are the rose of my heart

You are the love of my life

A flower not faded nor falling apart

If you're tired, rest your head on my arm
Rose of my Heart.

Johnny Cash recorded (it is a cover) this song when June Carter died. Last night Colin played this song for me - as in this song is for me. He has played it once before, and this song makes me cry, it is so sweet and if it is possible every time I hear this song it makes me love Colin even more.

I am in love with how you feel

New Found Glory and Paramore cover Anyone else but you. I already love this song, because it is so adorable, covered by these two is super sweet. Even if the sound quality is pretty bad, the giggle at the end makes my heart happy.

Check it out at

and I'll be gone before the break of dawn

So aside from watching the greatest hockey game of the year, this weekend was pretty great!
Friday night, Colin and I went to the new bar down the street, The Ale House to meet up with the old GoodLife crew, it was really nice to see everyone again and mostly watch Shelley get ridiculously tipsy. After the GoodLife group died out, we headed over to Poachers with Darcy and ate possibly the worst Nachos ever, and eventually met up with Dally and some of his random friends.
Saturday Colin and I skipped out on the pancakes so he could get his hair cut (he no longer looks like a mountain man or a yeti.) Our original plan was to head to Masonville to see Crazy Heart, but the weather had other ideas, and we decided to stick closer to home and go to Rainbow, where we watched The Crazies, which wasn't amazing, but it was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I appreciate when a movie focuses on the thrill of what will happen next rather than gore, and since I am not a huge fan of zombie movies I was happy to see that it could just barely be classified as such. Saturday night we went to CTO to catch The Bad Ideas rock out! It was a little weird being there totally sober, mostly because my patience for slam dancing douche bags, and scenester wanna-bes was quite limited - but it was still a super performance, complete with three new songs! I am so pumped for the spring release of their record. I can't believe it has almost been a year since we saw them preform for the very first time - this year has flown by!
